Committee Roles & Responsibilities 101

Credit Unions are people-centered co-operatives owned, controlled and run by and for their members to realise their common economic, social, and cultural needs and aspirations. The volunteers that freely choose to serve as Directors, Supervisory & Credit Committee members and critically important to the credit union’s success. In this one-day session, we introduce members to the credit union sector and highlight the role of each committee and how they relate to and interact with each other.

On completion of this workshop;

Participants should have awareness of:
• Credit Unions-values, profile, operating principles
• Credit Union Specific Regulations and the Regulatory body
• Corporate Governance: Roles & Responsibilities of members, each committee, management & regulators

Participants should understand the:
• Seriousness of responsibilities assigned to directors and elected officers
• The scope of their role and the need to operate in that scope for the overall benefit of the credit union
• Need to create a sustainable enterprise through risk and financial management

Who should attend

Members who have been nominated to serve, are thinking of accepting a nomination to serve on the Board of Directors, Supervisory or Credit Committee.
