Ms. Kim Tudor, Chief Executive Officer of the National Initiative for Service Excellence (NISE) Inc. and guest speaker for the evening was happy to declare that she had been a member of a Credit Union for 27 years. In congratulating the graduands Ms. Tudor commended them for “taking the steps that you have, not only to improve yourself, but to improve the cooperative and credit union movement for the benefit of us the members.”

Ms. Tudor expressed the view that as co-operators we needed to “emphasize that Credit Unions  in Barbados have a lot to be proud of, in terms of the progress they have made – from humble beginnings - operating out of the back rooms to present day standing, -  strong financial organizations controlling over 1 billion dollars in assets.”

“Credit Unions are truly a Barbadian success story and their continued commitment to the Co-operative principles especially in the area of Education; Training & Information is to be lauded. As credit union members, we have a great heritage, in our lifetime we have seen the tremendous growth made by the  Credit Unions, having being a member for 27 years I seen the growth first hand, I am really very proud of our achievements. The founding fathers and the stalwarts did an outstanding job, now it is our turn to be Firm craftsmen of our fate.”

This message was well received by the participants and we at the League are sure that they were encouraged to think creatively about how they could use the knowledge and skills gathered during the courses to actively influence the way Credit Unions did business today.

Congratulations to the participants of the 2011-2012 Training Programme we are sure that you can step forward with confidence and positively shape the Co-operative Movement in Barbados.
