Not for Profit but for Service

The organization can essentially be regarded as an “Agent for Credit Union Development.”  In fulfillment of this mandate, it seeks to provide a broad range of services:

  • Promote the practice of co-operative principles in all its affairs as an alternative and viable form of business organization.

  • Represent the movement before all competent authorities.  This includes lobbying Government for enabling legislation such as preserving the tax-exempt status of credit unions.

  • Leverage resources to support the movement’s developmental thrusts by improving the efficiency of credit unions and expanding the range of services on offer to members.

  • Provide training and developmental opportunities for the movement's human resources.

  • Promote safety and soundness, and development of best practices among credit unions.

  • Provide national services which are best achieved through joint action.

  • Leverage the combined bargaining strength of the movement to obtain volume discounts and other concessions from suppliers.

  • Promote networking and co-operation among societies through meetings, working attachments, etc.

  • Facilitate the pooling and distribution of financial resources.

  • Provide technical advice and guidance.
